| WOLF School Staff Are Experienced
Outdoor Teachers
The
WOLF SCHOOL provides a professional and creative environment for
those in the field of environmental education. Our Program
Directors and Naturalists hold college degrees or the
equivalent, are professionals in their field and have spent a
lifetime acquiring skills applicable to working with children and adults in
the outdoors. All have backgrounds in the areas of science, history,
community building, education or working with children. Our instructors’
experience and diverse backgrounds come together to create safe
and dynamic education programs for students.
Our Naturalists are enthusiastic lifelong learners who bring
a love of the outdoors and a commitment to outdoor education to
all their work with students and teachers. We spend over two
weeks each year in specialized staff trainings including safety
seminars, group-building, leadership and content area knowledge
for our science, history and group building programs. Our staff
provide positive role models for their students and create a
safe and supportive community for the students at the WOLF
School.
You
will find us exploring with our students the Sierra Foothills,
the watersheds of Sonoma County and the redwood forests and
tidepools in Santa Cruz. We teach hands-on, student-centered
lessons through direct experience with the natural world. Staff
at the WOLF School are required to travel and teach at all our
Northern California campuses so are flexible, self-motivated,
inquisitive and quick learners. Naturalists lead meals,
campfires, night walks and group activities so are required to
be safety-oriented leaders, be comfortable speaking and
performing in front of groups, and be positive role models.
